St Paul's Church's new Barnabas Centre (the New Community Halls)

(Picture by permission of, and with thanks to, the Leicester Mercury)
Saturday 19th January 2002

The great day at last! The centre was opened by the Archdeacon of Leicester and the Mayor of Oadby and Wigston. The Leicester Mercury recorded a picture of those present before the event, with (L to R) Brian Robertson, the current vicar, John Tonkin, who was rector of St Peter's church when the new congregation, which became St Paul's, was first planted and Ian Croft, who was vicar in the 1980s

Those present enjoyed coffee and hot soup afterwards and studied the displays of events in the church's history.

More details below...

...folk begin to arrive

...the new centre awaits the people!
...a chance to have a look round!

...displays show what St Pauls is all about

...to a background of "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever" the Archdeacon of Leicester dedicated the new centre and the Mayor of Oadby & Wigston welcomed it.

...while the ladies provided food for all.
